WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW?
For Probationers and Their Families
What is expected from me if I am granted Misdemeanor Probation and what am I agreeing to?
Once you are placed on Misdemeanor Probation:
* You will be required to attend an intake appointment where all required paperwork to set up your case will be discussed, signed, and you will be given copies. You must bring a credit card, if you do not have a card then bring a money order, for your intake fee, drug screen fee, and at least the 1st month's supervision fees. However, if you can pay more do so as your balance will be monitored each month for delinquency. Standard total: $85; if approved Indigent total: $75

* You will need to submit to regular drug screens at your officer's discretion and provide a pharmacy printout to show current prescriptions, as needed.

* You will need to maintain contact with your officer and provide any information needed regarding your address, phone number, etc. while on supervision.

* You will need to arrange transportation to and from your appointments.

* You will have to pay as soon as possible: all fees for your probation sentence, court costs/fines/fees to the clerk's office and if ordered by the court, pay restitution monthly.

* You will have to obtain permission from your officer prior to traveling outside the area.

* You will need to maintain employment and provide proof upon request or if disabled, provide paperwork from the social security office as documentation.

* You will have to report based on your risk and needs assessment and special conditions.

* If ordered, you will have to complete as certain number of community service hours before your probation expiration date.
* If ordered, you will have to attend certain classes while on supervision.
* What expenses will you need to budget for while you are on Misdemeanor Probation?
- Reporting appointment fee
-Drug screen fee
-Intake fee
-Lab results for drug screen fee
-Fines/court costs/court fees to the Sullivan County Criminal Court Clerk's Office
-Violation of Probation fee, if needed
-Restitution, if ordered by the court
-Class fee, if ordered by the court

* You will be required to pay your supervision fees ($45 per month) unless reduced due to being indigent (must be able to provide documentation for verification) for your sentence at your intake appointment.
-If you fail to provide the proper documentation your fees will not be reduced, and you will be charged the normal fees.

* You will be required to complete certain conditions of probation set by the judge such as community service, classes, etc.

* It will be YOUR responsibility to maintain contact with your officer.

* You will need to inform your officer of any and all changes in your contact information such as address, phone number, email address, etc.

*You will be required to alter your schedule, as needed, to fit your probation appointments, as rescheduling may not be possible.

* You will be required to complete observed drug screen while on probation.

NOTE: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MASK OR FALSIFY DRUG SCREEN RESULTS!

This will cause you to have another misdemeanor charge that may result in you serving a jail sentence of 11 months and 29 days for that charge, as well as having your probation sentence violated.

If you fail to comply with/complete ALL terms of your probation, your probation may be violated, and the court may require you to serve a period of time in the Sullivan County Jail.
